Subject: Start of the 2015 Season - West Hartford Girls Lacrosse Junior Division

Happy Fourth Day of Spring!!

I just wanted to update you on how we will kick off the 2015 Season.   We have several events this weekend and we would encourage your daughter’s participation.

On Saturday, all Junior (and Senior) Division players are invited to a clinic being presented by the Hall Girls Lacrosse program.  The event will take place on the Hall Stadium turf from 9-11am.  We are asking that a small donation ($10, suggested) be made towards the Hall program for participants at the event.

On Sunday, the Junior Division has reserved space at the Sportworld Indoor facility in East Windsor from 11am-1pm.  We will be using this time to observe the girls in a variety of drills which are being organized by one of our coaches.  We will be using this event to assist us in evaluating players and to create balanced teams for the season.   We strongly encourage your daughter’s attendance.  We understand if you have prior commitments.  There is no need to notify us if your family has a conflict.  Your daughter will be placed on a team. NOTE: Players trying out for the Junior Travel program are not required to attend.

For All Events:  Participants are REQUIRED to have a Stick, Goggles, and a Mouth Guard.  Jewelry should not be worn.   Since we will be on Turf, footwear is at the option of the player.  Cleats or Sneakers are both acceptable.

Looking forward.  Based on the results from this weekend, the coaches will confer and determine if we have enough data to create balanced teams.  We expect to make team assignments next week barring unforeseen circumstances.

As in prior years, the WH Girls Lacrosse league will have access to the Turf field at Hall High School (typically Saturday afternoons and Sundays) until the town releases the grass fields.  As a league, we expect to allocate our time across divisions and teams for the Turf.  These times will be Saturday afternoon or on Sunday.  We will announce the times at the beginning of each week in order to allow for planning.

Thanks in advance for your support and patience after this long winter.

NEW DATES FOR Classroom Ref Certification Classes

Attention 9th-12th graders:

Do you want to referee in the WH Girls' Lacrosse League this spring?  We need refs for the spring and we pay $35/game to certified youth referees.  We are looking for those that have played HS level lacrosse and be willing to attend the training and complete certifications.  If you are interested, follow these instructions:

1. Must be an active member of US Lacrosse: check your membership at

2. New this year, every ref, new and returning, must take 6 hours of classroom training and three hours of ON FIELD CERTIFICATION.  Good news, WHGL is paying for the certification for any West Hartford high school student wanting to ref in WHGL.  Classroom session will take place on TUESDAY, MARCH 24 (room 217 Town Hall) and FRIDAY, MARCH 27 from 6pm to 9pm (room 400) at WH TOWN HALL, 50 South Main St, WH. On-Field Certification takes place Sun, Mar 29, Hall HS, from 1pm to 4pm.

Everyone must register for BOTH of these events using the following link:

Scroll down and select (West Hartford) Junior Officials Training Clinic and under that is the (West Hartford) ON Field Certification Jr Officials Trg. SIGN UP FOR BOTH!

3. After successful completion of the 6 hr classroom session, every ref must take and pass the youth referee test online.

4. After successful completion of numbers 1-3 above, you must participate in the ON FIELD Certification event taking place at Hall HS on Sunday, March 29.

So, if you are interested in reffing this spring, please register for the classes and certification now as there are limited spots.

If you have any questions, please email our referee assignor, Coach Jamie at
